The Traveller
Benjamin Blue wondered about his dreams, for they seemed so far from his reality. The burnt and deeply scarred surface of earth, just did not correspond to what he saw in dreams. The colours in his dreams had driven deep into his soul, yet such colours could not exist surely.
He had experienced white frozen wastelands and rusted skeletons… But never such a multitude of green. Some said that moss had once been green, but it was a deep violet now. As the wingless plane carried him deeper into the earths mantle, he closed his good eye and dreamed.
I once tried to count the various shades of green. I failed.
One day, the earth will be green and blue again, Benjamin
Perhaps Neil, but as yet I am not even a quarter of the way into Benjamin’s tall story.
Oh Benjamin. Such dreams. I love the contemplative feel of this. To lose all the greens! Disaster.
Thank you Margaret… My muse did not let me come up with anything other than Benjamins story. So I am looking forward to reading the differing offering tonight.
Sad to lose all the greens
Indeed it would be.
Oh, this is lovely if quite sad. The burrowing into the earth is fascinating and the different colours captures the mind. Great piece.
I am so pleased to read your comment, thank you
This is so rich, so full of wonderful ideas, I’m in awe. I’d love to read that. Write faster! 😀
Such a lovely comment, I will try,
Lots to think about here. Burrowing deep into the earth could be a metaphor of death and burial, but I’m not sure it’s what you intended. Really well done!
Thank you Linda, there is a lot about death in Benjamins tale
I love the feel of this writing Michael and I want to learn more about Benjamin’s journey
Thank you Ange, Benjamin also wants to know more about his future.
Ooh! You have me wondering if Earth’s gone through a massive transformation or if Benjamin Blue may not be on our Earth.
Benjamin is a child of planet earth. However in this version Earth has suffered greatly
Benjamin, time traveler, hold on to your memories for as long as you can, they may lead you home. Good storytelling, Michael.
Memories are so important, I often wish that I have kept a better diary
I enjoyed this story of Benjamin Blue’s journey, and I hope to read more! Lovely writing, though I fear the planet has experienced a great tragedy.
Brenda I am glad that you enjoyed this story, the sections that I have completed are rather disjointed
Dear Michael,
Dreamlike and ethereal. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Rochelle, a great compliment, thank you so much
Such a lot in this story. I read it twice to savour.
Sandra, thank you for such a lovely comment
I’m reading a book about a man who sees emotions in color. It’s a thing. Very interesting.
Dawn, the ability to see or feel and using colour is intriguing
The imagery in your story was incredible. A world without green and blue is a sight I do not want to see. Looking forward to reading more about Benjamin. Loved the line about his one good eye!
Such a lovely compliment, thank you so much. The line about the one good eye has created a new image in my muse for this character
