The Forest of Elmet
Photo prompt from Dale Rogerson…
The forest of Elmet is beautiful. Yet when night comes most mortals fear the forest. Here at St Martins, at night we light a beacon to guide those who are lost.
However I wonder am I lost. For when it is my turn to care for the beacon, a young maiden visits me. Her skin is like silver, whilst her red hair glows in the fire. As I add more kindling to the fire she reaches out and draws me in.
Last week I accidentally deleted some of your comments. please forgive me if I did not reply. Mike

Oh my…. I love this, Michael!
We writers dream, although I wonder if in this case a jug or more of mead played a part
May the dream come true 🙂

Delightful, I like where your muse took you!

Not sure if the maiden brings long term goodness or ill, but for the moment she seems like Miss Right.

Michele thank you,
Intriguing piece.
It also intrigued me,… ten or even more years ago I do recall penning a few longer pieces about the forest of Elmet
Wonderful, Michael. Such an apparition cannot have been created in a mead-muddled brain. Great fantasy story that wants more.
