The end
It was the end, the end of all things. Time to say goodbye. Retirement sucks, but the retirement of the whole human race that hurts.
This was the last hooray, the last cheer and the last bow. Dim the lights. Silence the orchestra, but do not close the curtains. Let the place of our being, shine out like a beacon. For what comes next.
I’m glad, at least, something is coming after us
We followed the dinosaurs so I guess something small may follow us
A tad melodramatic perhaps, Michael!
Only just a tad, I can recall when every english town had a fever hospital. I worked at one, one where some of the staff where former patients.
The show will go on!
Irrespective of whether we are there or not on stage…
That is true Anita, it is why stage curtains should be always left open.
Let’s keep the flame alive.
It may depend on how much rain we get in the coming weeks.
Perhaps the show will be better without us mucking things up…
We mucking things up, surely not
Dear Michael,
You’ve waxed philosophical this week. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
I have two much more interesting flash stories ready to go. But waxing philosophical sadly took my muse over.
Apocalyptic theatre! π
I hope only temporarily so Iain.
Oy vey … and … sorry, but if this were the last ‘play’, I can tell ya that I will not PLAY! π
I love going to the theatre, but this would be one play we could do without.
I hear ya … I don’t know many people who’d want to sit through a play with a migraine (or be attending a play where someone had a serious medical emergency … The drama should be on the stage, not in the seats … π ).
Yes the drama should be on stage, but it was as this was the very last performance by humanity
I like your poetic ending.
Sadly I am no poet, so I really appreciate your comment
You are most welcome.
you ended it with hope. that’s the good thing. π
In my view of human society there is always a positive angle…
Hopefully things will change…
We need good leadership to create change,
They seem absent now days.
That is true. Which makes me think that it would be a good subject for study at a university. Or perhaps a topic for Friday fictioneers
Ahhhhhh. But do not close the curtain. Brilliant.
Thank you so much, open curtains are so important
Whether we’re here or not, life will go on in some form…
But I wonder who will record it,
The whole human race? Oh, I truly hope not! You’ve said a lot in very few words!
I told my muse off for being pessimistic
π
So much said. Well written.
Thank you Susan,
