The Aire valley
As the lowland sheep flee, sections of the Aire valley have taken on the appearance of lakes following the recent heavy rain. Dry stone walls have taken on the appearance of weirs, whilst the flood water pours though gateways. Rivulets become streams which quickly take on the appearance of rivers as the rising flood waters rise then gather and turn additional areas into new lakes: or should that be meres.
Later a large group of black necked Canadian geese have appeared and are soon followed by a smaller flock of Greylag geese.
11 OCT 2016 The heavens have opened, and the water levels climb higher until the Aire valley resembles a vast water world. All too soon members of my family need to be ferried home before the local roads become impassable.
