Tales of Old Ireland

Prompt provided by Dale Rogerson

Yes I live in a hovel, but it’s my hovel. I have a bed, a chair, and there’s a black iron kettle hanging in the fire hole. What’s more I don’t need a tinker to mend it. Out back I have a plot of tatie’s and some nice young carrots.
The fence is strong, so my old donkey can’t gobble them. Then there’s the visitors, they leave books, whilst I give them bread to feed the donkey, but they will give me coins.
Yellow irises frame my view of the ocean and ruby roses surround my door.
One day I will tell you of how I followed a rat to sea, and lost a fortune…

Sorry about the tenuous link to the prompt, Mike
