Lily and the dragon
It was frustrating for Lily. The outer membrane on her space capsule had been badly scorched by the steep angle of her descent to Neptune. Unless she could find a replacement she would not be returning to Mars.
The agriculture on Neptune left a lot to be desired, for a vegetarian like Lily.
Dinosaur steaks and Raptor wings just where not her cup of tea, and as tough as old boots. At least on Mars one could get something that tasted like Bambara pulses. All Neptunes edible food, was roasted by dragons. So roasted Palm-oil kernel stew or starve…
Needs must when the devil drives
So true Neil, so true
Dear Michael,
Clever use of the prompt. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Not as good as your offering this week,
Beggars can’t be choosers, I guess.
That is true, thank you Sandra
Not very appetising, but needs must.
Indeed, thank you Iain
I love the imagination of this piece. Seems almost Calvin-and-Hobbesish, in the best way. 🙂 Hopefully she can get back to Mars before she starves.
Thank you David, what a lovely comparison
Love it.
Poor creature. Starved of options.
Thank you chioma, I am pleased to read that you enjoyed it
Clever story and use of the prompt, Michael.
Thank you Bill, the prompts often challenge me, but that is part of the fun of writing for me
I enjoyed all the details of this otherworldly story. Very imaginative!
Thank you Brenda, I do like being challenged by the prompt pictures
As long as the digestive tract can handle it. Taste is a luxury item.
Taste a luxury, heck,
Dinosaur steaks and Raptor wings! Very creative 🙂
Thank you Dahlia
A great piece, especially for 100 words. If you come across a chocolate planet, please let me know. Somehow I’ll get there.
Best wishes,
Rowena
A chocolate planet, now there’s a challenging story for me to get ‘my teeth’ into
Great take on the prompt Michael 🙂
Thank you so much… I find commenting much more difficult than writing flash,
when one’s hungry, everything will taste like chicken. 🙂
Everything, maybe… thank you Plaridel
I wonder if anything tastes like chicken? A tough life for a vegetarian. Hopefully it gets a little better. Pity she can’t eat the planet haha
It certainly would be a tough life if one had to eat the planet. But possibly there is a story in that.
It looks like the future space traveler have not yet solved the inter-galactic food problem.
That is true, James. A spirit of adventure with one’s diet is needed
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Absolutely Bernadette, space travel requires that one is open to adventure in diet.
Michael, I’m really enjoying this unusual series of stories. Love the imagination, and the way you have made sci-fi creatures seem so real. Great stuff 🙂
Thank you Linda, I enjoy space travel, and so hopefully will have more to report.
