I might
I might live in the city, but you know I breath deeper and thrive more in the wilderness of Utah. This is the last day that I will raise my cap. I have given notice to the hotel. I am off to round up cattle, instead of carrying suitcases. But first I must collect my well ventilated boots. Each pair records a trail walked. Now I will be ploughing a new furrow. Should I fail darling, climb a mountain and scatter me to the wind. Be a star in the city lass. Never change. I will love you always…
I love the poignancy of this, and the love that doesn’t conquer all
Thank you Neil, sadly sometimes loving someone means giving them their freedom
Dear Michael,
What a sweet and tender piece.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you Rochelle,
Well done, Michael. This is indeed a breath of fresh air.
Thank you so much Russell,
A lovely piece. A parting of free spirits but still warm. Yes I prefer the countryside to the dusty dirty city.
Thank you very much James, finding what is right for ones is not always easy to do
He’s leaving her behind? I hope he doesn’t live to regret that decision.
Regrets he will have, but this couple had such differing needs, that they allowed each other freedom.
At least they are parting amicably. Loving one another doesn’t necessarily mean being shackled for life. Delightful Michael.
Thank you Keith, my couple did indeed realise that being shackled into the wrong environment would destroy their love
What a lovely bitter-sweet romance. You’ve written this very well, Michael
Thank you for a lovely comment, it was appreciated
Well done, Michael. But you’re gunna need a horse. 🙂
You made me smile, thank you Bill
You told a lot of story here. It’s a novella in 100 words. I wish them both well.
I really appreciated this comment, thank you
I like how he’s leaving the city for Utah.
I also would love to see Utah
Sometimes love isn’t enough, he needs the freedom of the open plains.
Yes…Love thrives when freedom is allowed
You’ve outdone yourself with this one, Michael.
Linda, what a lovely comment, thank you so much. I do believe that love thrives when allowed the freedom to grow
What a beautiful story. When there’s freedom in love, it has good chances to last and stay fresh. Just like the boots that are aired out. 🙂
I was pleased that you enjoyed the story, thank you Mike
I don’t think this romance is over. They’ll find a way. Beautifully told, Michael.
True their relationship is stronger then ever for being allowed the space to grow, Margaret thank you
Hopefully, they will reconnect again. Nice one, Michael.
Thank you, I think that they will remain very close friends.
