At Dunsop Bridge
Today with Bill I visited St Hubert’s a Roman Catholic church designed by Edward Pugin. This small church is surrounded by mature trees and is situated right on the edge of Dunsop Bridge in Lancashire. Now a peaceful and remote area often referred to as the Forest of Bowland, and once as Amounderness. Here the title of Bowbearer is linked to the Pilgrimage of Grace 1536. The Pilgrimage of Grace is now considered a spontaneous mass protest against politicial, social and economic injustices: sounding familiar. After a period of quiet reflection in the church we left to visit the Riverside Tea Rooms at Slaidburn for lunch.
