Driving Forward
Thank you Sandra for this great photo prompt
I can no longer run up this hill, so I no longer beat the delivery folk,. Once I would tap on many doors, to warn a housewife of a delivery. I earned my pocket money that way. Sadly now nearly all the old characters are long gone. Josie who always gave me a kiss as well as a sparkling penny. Old Tom who whittled a Spitfire model for me, both gone now. So now I sit on my doorstep in old Mrs Timm’s house. Now I collect money from tourists, for recounting the events of my youth.
I am late to the party this week, but better late then never.
I bet he embroiders some of the tales
He certainly does, as he found it improved his earning
Late to the party is ok! Any one of us advancing in years can identify with this wistful tale.
What’s the gate in the second picture?
Thank you Michael, the gate is the entry point to my village church and it’s surrounding walled graveyard. The church was rebuilt in Victorian times, but the church history goes back a long way. If I recall correctly the gate is called a Lychgate,
Dear Michael,
And the circles they go round and round. Nicely told.
Shalom,
Rochelle
