Cold Tears

Photo curtsy of Na’ama Yehuda

Tears freeze like diamonds. Everyone had expected global warming. But what came was a new ice age, as the sun faded. Solar panels froze over, wind turbines shattered in the extreme cold. Humanity went deep.

We are like ghosts, you can see our skeletons though translucent skin. We use repurposed items recovered from our ancestors rubbish. A panel of wire mesh serves as my bed, whilst an old Christmas decoration reflects my hairless image.

Antifreeze allows my blood to move. It is said we are the last generation. Yet a child moves within me.

  1. Dear Michael,

A rather chilling take on the prompt. The last line certainly leaves room for more.

    Shalom,
