Once again the farmers are playing games, I was expecting to attend a village fete today. Then the farmers decided to hold a rally to protest about the ban on using diesel in tractors. The government wants farmers to return to using oxen or heavy horses. So farmers being farmers, they have placed their farm machinery at pinch points across the district. Gridlock… So I decided to return to my bed. I decided to make hay whilst the sun shines. A nice little mare has joined me. Well them tractors can’t rule forever can they?
It sounds idyllic. And for small farms perhaps do-able.
Idyllic but labour intensive
Looking forward to the cavalry charge of heavy horse
Ned says that not with his foals
Dear Michael,
It sounds like the farmers have things all figured out. Nicely done.

If only they had, Rochelle
Love the POV here 🙂
That is kind of you Linda.
Well, what an interesting prompt direction, and I like the cheeky ending, returning to bed, to make hay while the sun shines, with a lovely filly/mare ….. great word-play. Just enough naughty teasing to appease the senses. Well done Michael!
I love writing fiction when I get such a comment, thank you so much.
The return of beasts of burden? Nice idea, but I think not! A great take Michael.
I do understand that the beasts of burden, do not wish to return to full time farm working
Ha! So good.
Thank you Trish
Any excuse for a bit of bedroom fun 🙂
Very true
As good a way to spend the day as any.
So true
Nicely written saucy story, Michael. And a good insight into how government directed actions so often lead to unintended consequences.
I am only glad that I am not in charge of a government.
