Antenna
No one realised the significance of the big wheel. It was billed as offering a great experience. It truly did. As the wheel revolved a complex array of radio waves focused on those traveling within its cars. Radio waves broadcast deep from within the universe. Imprinting a message within those occupying the cars. “Enjoy the experience, go forth and be happy, whilst you await our call, we will be in touch and will ask your help to bring happyness to your race”. Slowly the big wheels appeared in all major cities on earth. The future looked rosy, but was it?
We did both go in the same direction! And your last line implies that your aliens might be as unfriendly as mine…
Indeed they may well be.
I think probably not. Induced happiness is flimsier stuff than the real thing. The moths get into it
Then we must keep the moths away using camphor balls
Somehow spreading happiness sounds very sinister in this context, Michael. Very well done!
Sinister indeed
Dear Michael,
Interesting take on the prompt. I’m not sure that’s going to be a cheerful or welcome call when it comes.
Shalom,
Rochelle
PS Please add a ? to your last sentence. It will clarify that you’re asking a question.
Definately not cheerful I think. ? on its way.
Well it sounds as though it might be good… but on the other hand…
Bad or good, something does not feel right, me thinks.
Ooh, great take… and it could be the prequel to @draliman’s story.
Thank you gahlearner. I enjoyed draliman take on the prompt
It would be so nice to imagine that the aliens’ intention was benign…
Indeed it would, thank you penny
Chilling. And the more I look at that “universe” picture, the more I see in it. Kinda creepy.
Creepy but only fiction I hope, thank you granonine
Too much of a good thing sounds fishy to me.
Definately fishy, thank you Dale
I’ll never ride a ferris wheel again! Scary! They would make great antennas wouldn’t they…
Sorry to deny you the pleasure of a Ferris wheel ride. Thank you Jade
Big wheel was nothing but an antenna to transmit signal?
Thank you Abhijit
I wouldn’t trust them. But they’ve sure figured us out – just keep us entertained and we’ll go along with any wacky idea that promises more of the same.
It is certainly true that any alien who figures out that the desire for entertainment is strong in humanity will do well.
