Unwanted guest
Such a display of nourishment, I am so lucky. They call me a book worm, but knowledge was my aim. What if I take a nibble or two. Surely few do not like a tasty book. Enid Blyton and the Rev Awdry set me on this path. Devouring written subject matter was only a dream until my brain learned to make sense of those devious marks that teased my young brain so.
Now as age challenges the pleasure of being a book worm, I wonder, should I have turned to music or laid paint upon canvas, or built sand castles.
sandcastles every time. But always on the low tide mark
What a beautiful building.
A book worm might make a great writer.
Fantastic descriptions!
My local church thanks you heartily, it has a proud history.
Dear Mike,
Nothing wrong with being a bookworm. But why not multitask and lay paint to canvas at the same time? 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle
Multitasking here I come,
The simplest of pleasures, I dread to imagine a life without reading.
Reading is certainly one of life’s great pleasures,
Who knows if we made the right choices? For me it’s music, but should it have been painting?
My story is a but click away!
I do regret not trying harder to master the tuba… perhaps if I had tried playing jazz.
There’s still time for those other things. Keep reading!
I will try, … I miss wandering around substantial libraries,
A whimsical and well-written story, Michael. I have a friend in her 70’s like me who has started taking singing lessons. It’s never too late to learn something new. That’s a lovely church. 🙂 — Suzanne
Thank you Suzanne, it is good to try new challenges. The church has a rich history, but is sadly looking more and more isolated from the community
Life of a book worm is good. So many pages to eat out of a thick book. One can even pick and choose. Too bad, e-books are coming! Would a book work starve then?
I like this comment.
Perhaps it is time to explore the pleasure of acrylic on canvas?
I have constructed quite a few dioramas over the years, but frustratingly I am not good with colour.
This was delightful, Michael.
Thank you Dale, for such a nice comment
A most enjoyable read. And I couldn’t help but think—every writer paints with words, and build all sorts of castles the same way 🙂
Thank you Granonine Art is such a broad church, just like each castle has its own individualism.
