The Sentinel
On a stout stone, grey from his nose to his tail, he watch’s individuals traveling. Time passes quickly for the bear. To his left doors wait, snaring anyone who enters them. On his right, lights sing seductive lullabies. As ice crystals coat his talon’s, he calls out, stay on the path, don’t dally, don’t drink. Yes tonight policymakers intends to save more souls from Christmas. So they locked the doors and dimmed the lights. It’s a shame that no one told the Bear, he could have had a holiday. Merry Christmas…
In my experience, the bear is generally the last to know. Merry Christmas, Michael.
There is a kind of bear in those lights, isn’t there? Or is it my Aunt Meg?
The compliments of the season Neil, however it is to cold out side for Aunty Meg to be out and about
I think Bear will be a social media star.
If only, if only Tannille. Wishing you the compliments of the season…
Maybe that’s his idea of a holiday…
Yes it may well be, he could be a budding author people watching. I hope you have a good Christmas
Dear Michael,
Hopefully someone will notify the Bear. Intriguing story.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Intriguing will do for me, thank you Rochelle
Talons? Ice-coated? Scary stuff!
My original take on this story was indeed scary, talons are one of the few words left from the first draft. Wishing you a good Christmas
I like your descriptions of the bear. Wonderful image of Devon.
I do miss going to Devon, it is a lovely part of the world. The bear was not so pleased. I hope you have a good Christmas
To bad no one told the bear. Intriguing tale, Michael! Merry Christmas!
Thank you Brenda. It was a very heavily rewritten draft of another story. I hope that you have a good Christmas,
Poor Bear, I’m sure he’d love that off.
At least he has a warm coat…
Poor bear. Sounds like he’s leaving empty-pawed.
He may well do so, but he’s gathered lots of material for his stories
A baffled bear, never mind there’s always tomorrow.
He is often baffled, but never struck for words
I hadn’t even noticed the bear before I read your story. Well spotted, poor bear, he needs some rest.
Rest and a good food is good for most people. I hope that you have both tomorrow
perhaps holidays are for lesser beings
The bear loves your comment
An observant bear with icy talons. He’s very interesting.
Jilly the bear loved your comment.
